Dear Editor:
The assessed value of my home went up eight per cent between 2012 and 2013. My total taxes have gone up 13 per cent (utilities and taxes combined). To my knowledge, I am not receiving any additional services for the increased taxation.
It seems to me the municipal government has entered a reckless and out-of-control phase. They appear to have lost all touch with reality. How can they possibly justify these kinds of increases?
