Dear Editor:
I am a coach for a Burnaby u-11 girls' team. Every practice and game day, players, parents and supporters are having to clean dog feces off their bodies, clothing and footwear.
With the ever-exploding dog population, the problem is getting worse - even when there are beautiful dog parks within the immediate area of the sports field (e.g. Burnaby Heights on Eton Street).
It's bad enough that personal property is soaked with urine and feces, but this should not be acceptable at any sports field. Dog owners do not respond well when you share your concerns and thoughts on the issue, usually coming up with the old "it will wash away" line.
Would it be acceptable, if a dog dropped his business in the middle of a hockey rink, to say "the Zamboni will get it"?
