Dear Editor:
The deadline to drop off our ballots for the HST referendum came upon us at 4: 30 p.m. on Friday Aug. 5. As predicted and as usual, many procrastinators wasted their valuable ballots by being late.
Now, whether the results will be for or against the HST, undoubtedly the losers will be in an uproar with countless excuses to why they were late on casting their ballots. Unfortunately, the truth is it doesn't matter when or how a deadline is decided on, the chronic procrastinators will always be procrastinators and miss that deadline.
However, that said, I do hope the government, to eliminate a lot of criticism, and more importantly, because of it being such an important issue, will accept and count those ballots that even though they were dropped off late, were going to be sent.
