Re: Protester’s case triggers new bill, Burnaby NOW, May 29.
So, Alan Dutton and the NDP are in favour of free speech and protesting whilst at the same time want to take away a plaintiff’s right to a trial by jury. Rather ironic, I might add, our English common law neighbours in Washington state had their Supreme Court rule unanimously just Thursday that anti-SLAPP legislation is unconstitutional.
The NDP lives for sound bites and headlines without regard to the merits of an issue, and Mr. Dutton appears to fallen into their trap.
