Dear Editor:
Re: Minister challenged to visit 'needy' district, Burnaby NOW, Feb. 17
The provincial economy - the education part at least - is a brutal partisan game.
Burnaby kids get minimal dollars because largely, Mayor Derek Corrigan is an arrogant, loud-mouthed, staunch NDPer and to a lesser degree, (school board chair Larry) Hayes is also pro-NDP.
If you're pro-NDP and like Corrigan, you get the least funding. If you're NDP but less aggressive and more reserved, you get intermediate funding. If you're proLiberal, welcome to the 6/49!
The economy is mainly tied to one's partisan position, partisan philosophy. This explains it better than (Education Minister George) Abbott did.
Thang Vu, Burnaby
