Dear Editor

I have a suggestion for a Plan B for TransLink. Give the transit portion back to B.C. Transit and the bridges and highways back to the provincial government.

These two areas were run separately before TransLink. Everyone knows that the B.C. government really runs TransLink behind the scenes, so they might as well officially take over. This would end all the expensive never-ending fooling around between the transport minister and the mayors. Also, since B.C. Transit is a Crown corporation, some of their funding must now already come from Metro taxpayers, and it would only seem reasonable that transit service be finally again combined under the provincewide service.

Interestingly, B.C. Transit recently ordered a large number of new buses, and if we move fast, we might get some of them. It only seems reasonable to assume that present taxes should be adequate to run a pure transit system consisting of buses, trains and SeaBuses.
