Dear Editor
Thank you, Burnaby. At first I was sceptical when the Cons gerrymandered the new riding of Burnaby North – Seymour, until I came to realize the Burnaby North has consistently voted NDP. This means that they have always cared for their neighbours, appreciated and tried to protect their environment, empowered their children and colleagues and built a close community which is accepting and inclusive.
In my well over 40 years of voting, I have been a Liberal. In the old days, there was not much difference, but I have been so embarrassed by our government’s and our actions worldwide since the privileged Liberals got caught in the sponsorship scandal. Even after that, for a short time, I tried to believe that the new younger candidates might save them. Not so.
Conservative measures in medicine and health care usually means status quo and at least “do no harm.”
The magic occurs with the innovators, the creative minds of scientists based on proven scientific principles. This is particularly true with the resilience of the pediatric population – the children – our future. The Cons’ majority has done almost irreparable harm during this “lost” decade.
Don’t be embarrassed to be Canadian anymore – even the Cons are so embarrassed of their record, they don’t show up at all-candidates meetings. First priority is to get rid of the Cons, but we must join together as a community in our voting this time and choose wisely. Be proud to let your orange glow!
Vote optimistically NDP for the future of your dreams – and take your neighbours and colleagues with you!
