Letter: Burnaby fare gates force people into dangerous crowds

The fare gate situation at many of the SkyTrain stations is ridiculous.

For example, Edmonds. Six gates, all available to exit, only one to enter. So you have dozens of people bunched up together, trying to hurry though the solitary open gate, while one or two people casually meander through the other gates.

Or, even better, when a person holds up the line by deciding they will exit via the single-entry gate.
It's hard enough to social distance on transit without forcing people to bunch up on entry. The idea of having specific in and out gates is not a bad one, but it is being poorly executed.

If people properly social distanced while using the single entry gate, busses would be delayed from the line of people stretching across the bus entry/exit road.
TransLink needs to open their eyes and at least one more entry gate, especially at stations with bus loops.

Perhaps if they spent more time paying attention to the actual commuter situation and less time making/promoting TransLink branded masks, they would know this themselves.
