While we continue to feel the effects of the latest disaster of flooding, rescuing packaging foam from landfill is a disaster that is now becoming unacceptably handled by the City of Burnaby amongst other cities in B.C.

What is in stark contrast to this is that major gas and oil companies continue to truck full tanks of gas into Burnaby and return to their points of origin with empty tanks on a regular basis.

Suggest that an increase in a transportation tax should be collected from those big gas companies who add to city maintenance costs through street and highway use.

The tax cost is not passed along to the gas consumer, but directly to smaller transportation networks which will help pay to truck out the insulating foam materials.
