Re: Burnaby shouldn’t let NIMBYs derail Bainbridge plan – we need housing, NOW Opinion

Mr. Ong needs to speak to his neighbours east of Bainbridge. They are not in opposition to the Bainbridge Urban Plan. The residents east of Bainbridge are opposed to the city pushing Buffalo Street and Collister through to Phillips.

This area is made up of long-time owners of single-family homes and extending these streets would severely impact the neighbourhood.

We do not need to add more shortcuts for drivers to navigate. Bainbridge, Winston and Lougheed work just fine.

The city is considering a park and school in the green space bordered by Lougheed, Buffalo Drive and west of Phillips. But access should only be off of Phillips, with a school student drop-off area and parking for staff and park patrons.

Or as was done at the urban development at SFU - incorporate a school within the urban village area closer to Sperling and simply develop the green space as a park/nature area.

We are not opposed to the development, just leave the streets within the area east of Bainbridge as is.
