Letter: Closing Burnaby parks is shortsighted. We need nature

Editor: I read the article accusing Burnaby residents of stupidity and urging the parks to be closed. It appears to be a judgmental piece written by an author doing their best to ignore the benefits of outdoor exercise, both mental and physical.

I read the article accusing Burnaby residents of stupidity and urging the parks to be closed.

It appears to be a judgmental piece written by an author doing their best to ignore the benefits of outdoor exercise, both mental and physical.

We need to exercise caution and manage the spaces intelligently - the one directional paths are a good example. But wholesale blanket closures seem to be largely fear-driven and shortsighted at best. This will not go away in a week or two, we need to make a real plan to let people get some fresh air in surroundings that are not just urban.
