A Metrotown resident says the sidewalks are getting unsafe. NOW files

Editor:

I would like to draw attention to the rapidly-deteriorating roads and sidewalks around the Metrotown SkyTrain station where many developers are building high-rises.

I am a renter at present on one of the side streets and was walking down the Sussex sidewalk one morning (and it was not raining) and because of a huge crack in the sidewalk, I tripped, fell on my right knee and hurt both my knee and shoulder.

It has been over a week and I am still in pain, and am considering an X-ray to make sure there is no bone damage.

There have been many closures of sidewalks in my area for many months, and we are being subjected to much inconvenience and, even now, hazardous conditions.

I understand progress needs to continue, but the least the developers could do is make sure the sidewalks are in a fit state for pedestrians who don’t have vehicles and live here for the convenience of being able to walk to the mall, library, etc.
