Experts and scientists around the world are saying that this pandemic has been made possible due to global warming.

They also say that more pandemics are likely if we continue to pump megatonnes of carbon into the atmosphere. There has been little action to help mitigate our effects on the environment outside of this worldwide shutdown that is being forced upon us.

Yet we've already seen the Earth's incredible ability to recover in this short time. Now is not the time for a bailout of Canadian oil companies. Canadian oil is basically worthless right now, and yet oil companies in Alberta are expecting $20 billion in loans - loans that are unlikely to be paid back.

Instead of bailing out corporations, let us use this money to support the families that are going through this tough time and help support them as we transition to green energy and away from fossil fuels.

Any bailout of the oil and gas sector should therefore include immediate relief of the families, as well as new training and employment opportunities in low-carbon industries,

Let’s rebuild green.
