There are a lot of excellent family doctors in Burnaby, but none of them will take me on as a patient.
They are all booked up and not taking on any patients, although I wonder if my name is spread through the system as being a problem patient.
I had a GP in Burnaby a few years ago, but (that doctor) ditched me. I kept calling trying to make an appointment but the staff kept telling me there were no times available. Day after day I called trying to get in but they had no appointments. This went on for weeks until one of the staff finally told me that they wouldn’t be continuing to take me on as a patient.
I was pretty upset and so I just showed up at the office to ask why. One of the staff who seemed to feel sorry for me said that I took up too much of the doctor’s time during visit because all of my ailments. I took that to mean I was being dumped for being sick all the time.
Well, I don’t like being sick but I suffer from multiple issues, both mental and physical. You think I like being at the doctor all of the time? I don’t.
I wish I could sleep at night and didn’t get sick when I eat food.
Since that time I have to go to different clinics, which has been difficult during COVID. It’s hard to even get walk-in doctor’s to do phone appointments.
I know I’m not the only one struggling to find a doctor.
