Letter: Thanks for showing the human side of John Horgan

Would our province and our country be better off if we could turn the tide on mockery and attacks?

John Horgan, right, seen with federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. Horgan just stepped down as B.C. premier.

Editor:

What a fun and encouraging read Keith Baldrey’s tribute to Horgan was.

When the norm of political writing, whether it be local or national, usually highlights failures and pitfalls, this was a refreshing reminder that politicians are, in fact, people and each one has stories that are surprising and beautiful.

I don’t usually vote for NDP, but I do celebrate the way Horgan connected with seniors and students in a genuine way, not just seeking publicity.

I do believe in holding politicians accountable and calling things out that aren’t good.  I also think that our province and nation would go along way if we can encourage our leaders, even those we don’t agree with, and change the usual tide of mockery and attacks.
