Re: Brazen porch pirate steals packages from full house, NOW News
I read the above article in the NOW and it really resonated with me because I’ve had packages stolen from my Burnaby home before.
The first time it happened was a few years ago and I stopped buying online for a while because of it. It was upsetting that someone would come onto my property and violate the sanctity of my home.
But my wife convinced me that I should let a criminal dictate my life like that so I started buying online from Amazon and other companies again. Things went well for a long time until early in the pandemic I once again had a package taken from my doorstep.
Like the story above, I was actually at home when it happened and again it was upsetting.
But instead of stopping online shopping, I decided to do something different. I bought one of those surveillance cameras and hooked it up so I can watch who comes onto my property.
I also have taken some of the boxes from my purchases and filled them with rocks and then re-taped them. Then I leave them out on my front doorstep as bait for one of these “porch pirates.”
When they take the boxes, they will think they’re cashing it but it will be a nasty surprised for them.
