I really don't care if the People’s Party of Candidate candidate wants everyone to know that the Conservative candidate, Jay Shin, is Korean or not.

Anyone should be able to see that all three of the major parties, NDP, Liberals and Conservatives, are pandering to the ethnic vote with their candidates Jagmeet Singh, Richard Lee and Shin.

And it doesn't matter which one of them wins, it will be because of the strength of their ethnic support in the riding and not because any one of them offers superior policies.

That makes it pretty darned sad to me that the white PPC candidate hasn't got a chance because of her ethnicity. Deny it if you like, but it's boringly obvious to me that the racial majority candidate wins and not the one with the best policies for the people.

Editor’s note: We reviewed the 2016 Census data of the ethnic makeup of Burnaby. Out of the 230,000 Burnaby residents at the time, the following is the estimated number of people living in the community matching the ethnicity of each party candidate mentioned in the letter.

Korean: 8,170

South Asian: 18,875

Chinese: 79,775

North American/Western European: 130,000+
