Dear Editor:
Having lived in South Burnaby for over 40 years, I was shocked at the amount of trash and litter as you walk along Rumble Avenue between Nelson and Royal Oak. There are two schools in close proximity and one trash can for the entire two blockstretch. I’ve addressed this issue with Sav Dhaliwal a couple of years ago. Of course, he was big on promises but short on action. Having travelled extensively, it’s very depressing to return home and be welcomed with such an eye sore. I suggested a couple of solutions to our esteemed councillor but was met with deaf ears. Perhaps more city trash cans or even liaison with TransLink and get a bin by the bus stop. Possibly think outside the box and hire some of the homeless people who linger around Royal Oak and Rumble to do a regular cleanup. It’s time to bring back pride in our community.
