Dear Editor:
It is very strange that Mayor Derek Corrigan and his council can advocate for protests against Kinder Morgan for going ahead with its legitimate and lawful business activities and then act surprised that the City of Burnaby will be stuck with a huge policing bill.
You would think that council would have thought of this before proceeding as they have.
This leads to one of two conclusions. The first being that mayor and council didn’t do their job in understanding the repercussions of their actions and it is now time for a change in the next election. The second is that they did understand the repercussions and they were happy to have an increase in taxes to pay for policing to support their words and actions.
Either way, don’t expect other Canadians to pay for actions that are aimed at destroying national wealth and jobs.
