Dear Editor,

Re: "8-lane tunnel, not bridge, to replace tube,” News, Aug. 19.

How does anyone approve a budget of $4.15 billion for an 8-lane tunnel, when we don't know if it can survive a 3.5 year environmental assessment, plus the usual and expensive court challenge delays?

What budget and time limits have been established for the environment study? What if it is not approved?

What harmful environmental impact will result from delays, including the 3.5 year environmental assessment process affecting the tunnel construction completion prior to 2026?

Imagine the process necessary to complete the Trans-Canada Highway and transcontinental railway projects today.

Canada should be renamed to Canacan't.
