Dear Editor:
I disagree with your article regarding the real property gone bonkers (Not the kind of “pay it forward” we like," Burnaby NOW, Our View, Dec. 16).
The property tax is a regressive one and like any other regressive tax is unfair. Like many other countries where real property is taxed, here in B.C. owners should pay their tax property considering a few factors like for example their family income; other real properties; and age. If I find myself with a property that I bought 20 years ago and I have a family income very low, two teenaged kids and no other real property, how can I pay my property tax if one considers these new values?
