Re: Volkow wants the madness to stop, Burnaby NOW, Jan. 8.
Councillor Volkow’s assessments are almost the same as mine. If I sell my house now I will have made over a million dollars tax-free – for doing nothing. This is insane.
I am sure there are lots of people who find this unfair. I bought my house to live in it, not for profit.
My grandchildren and those of their generation have no hope of buying a house here, even with a good salary. So what is the solution? The simplest and best that I have heard suggested is a wealth transfer tax. Does anyone have a better one?
