Re: City, Kinder Morgan at odds over mountain, Burnaby NOW, July 23.
The city council in Burnaby does not have a mandate from the people who live there to take a stand, one way or the other, on the expansion of the pipeline.
When I exchanged emails with the mayor on the subject, he insisted he did have a mandate. But it was not an issue that arose during the last election.
There has been no comprehensive survey done to give all the residents of Burnaby an opportunity to express their opinion.
Mr. Corrigan and the council appear to be setting themselves up as dictators on this issue. Are they allowed to do that?
