Every year we want Christmas to be bigger and better than the year before.
This season started off with the immediate members of my family making it known early that there were different plans afoot than the usual traditional stay at home ritual I have known.
The bottom line for this Yuletide season is my wife and I will be spending it together for perhaps the first time since we used to live in a shoebox apartment flat in Bangkok almost 30 years ago.
That however is a good thing. The not's-so good thing is that I got hit with the flu early in December and likely will be relatively inactive when the day rolls around.
That, coupled with a crazy set of deadlines this year and all the changes that have landed at our collective desks in 2013, have made it an extraordinary year to say the least.
Changes to an old geezer like myself have come with a modicum of concern and a great deal of encouragement after I have proven time and time again that I am not too old to learn new tricks.
That's not to say that I understand half of what I'm doing and why? But more, given the tools and the instruction, I can launch the beast into the twitterverse, or wherever, as good as the next guy.
Then, everyone almost went crazy for social networking, wanting to do this, or that, or whatever is possible with a click, a tap or a download.
I quickly felt overwhelmed, not really understanding just how much, or which vein I should be focusing on.
My videos have been garnering a fair following as far as the rest of the office goes. At one time, I had five of the top 10 monthly views. But now I've heard were switching to a different format, sigh.
I'm not sure where that leaves me, heading into a new year where more questions than answers await.
Thank goodness for the year in review. It goes on for seemingly forever in my sports sections. I can continue it well into January. Maybe by then things will appear a bit clearer.
Until then no untried resolutions for this old dog.
Merry Christmas everyone.
