More details needed about burglaries

Dear Editor:

I appreciate Cayley Dobie's warning about the indications that a prolific offender may be responsible for a recent rash of burglaries in North Burnaby, but I find that there is a lamentable lack of detail.  It would help us guard against being victimized if the perpetrator's modus operandi had been better described.

Is there a pattern? It would be useful to know if these break-ins usually occur at night or in daylight. It is mentioned that there were alarms, but were there any motion-detector lights in the yards? Is entrance usually done by smashing in a door? Or by breaking a window? Had locks been reinforced? Or are these events just opportunistic because a door or window was left unlocked?

I have heard of situations where miscreants would target only homes where a ladder was lying conveniently nearby for providing access to second-storey windows, or an attached garage was easily entered.

This type of information would assist us substantially in protecting our property.
