Muckraking in Silver Creek after coal spill

I went out on Monday, combing the banks of Burnaby's Silver Creek with NOW photographer Jennifer Gauthier and local streamkeeper Alan James.

We went deep into the brush, getting scratched with thorns, to check out the damage from the train derailment, and there was coal all over the place – chunks and dust.

Here are some fun pics from the excursion. We did not see anyone from Fisheries and Oceans Canada or Environment Canada onsite, just a lone City of Burnaby employee.

Jennifer shot these pics of me scaling the wall, notepad in teeth, to get back onto the street.
