DEAR EDITOR:
When I read the following message on an Internet discussion board, I thought of Charter Lau and all those ignorant, misguided and bigoted parents who are apparently in favour of allowing gay children to be bullied in their schools.
The poster wrote: "There was a gay kid in my school, the lads found out, he was beaten so badly that his eyes were black for two months, and he was in a cast for even longer. Of course. his parents decided to take him out from that school, when they realized that almost all the lads were involved, so it wasn't going to stop. It's been 10 years and I've regretted many things in my life, but this was one event I'm proud of."
That's what we're fighting against, Mr. Lau, and others of your ilk! How does THAT fit with your so-called "moral values?"
Do you think that was FAIR to this poor kid, who had as much right as anyone to attend school and receive an education without goons beating him up day after day?
It's time for such ignorant parents to re-examine those bogus "moral values" of theirs, which are nothing more than an excuse for bigotry, and to attempt to develop some decency and compassion for a change.
