On behalf of the patients, physicians and staff of Burnaby Hospital, I would like to thank the Fraser Heath Authority for acknowledging that Burnaby Hospital needed more surgical resources.
Under the leadership of Mr. Michael Marchbank, the FHA has increased the surgical budget of Burnaby Hospital to allow a seventh operating room to be opened and utilized this fall.
I would also like to thank Mr. Richard Lee, MLA-Burnaby North, for his work in facilitating many of the meetings that were required to achieve this help for Burnaby Hospital to serve the citizens of B.C. who come to it for their care.
I also thank Ms. Pamela Gardner for her tireless work these last few years to help make Burnaby Hospital better.
Obviously, thanks also goes to the Burnaby NOW and the other media outlets that publicized the needs of Burnaby Hospital.
One day, Burnaby Hospital will have to be rebuilt but we leave that for the future.
