The days of me lugging a car seat in and out of my vehicle are, thankfully, long gone.
We had one of those car seats that detached from its base so it turned into a carrier. It was heavy and clumsy – I even cursed it a few times.
Those days are now over, but I still feel the pain of parents when I see them struggling with their infants when getting in and out of a vehicle.
That point was driven home when I saw a tweet by excellent radio editor Denise Wong. She posted the photo above about some clown who parked their vehicle way too close to her vehicle.
Just look at this thing – it’s barely inside the parking spot. (Yes, technically it's in the lines, but come on.)
“PSA: Getting a carseat in/out of a car in a parking lot with narrow spots is challenging as it is,” she tweeted. “When you park like this beside me, it makes it impossible. (I had to park the stroller and back out -- appearing to abandon my child -- in order to be able to get her in).”

So just don’t do it. It makes life difficult for anyone who needs to get into their vehicle. The white lines are there for a reason – they aren’t a suggestion. Park well within those lines. If you need to adjust to give other vehicles room, the do it.
We’ll thank you for it.
