Dear Editor:
Re: Not this parent's voice, Letters to the Editor, Burnaby NOW, Nov. 11.
In a recent letter to the editor, "Melissa L." makes slanderous claims against Parents' Voice suggesting that this grassroots movement of concerned parents wants to allow children "to be bullied because they might be different from her."
Parents' Voice has consistently maintained the message that ALL children must be protected against all forms of bullying.
Our concern with Policy 5.45 has been that it endorses one belief regarding human sexuality and the nature of the family when this matter has a plurality of beliefs in our public education system.
Unfortunately, our requests for accommodation have led to numerous other slanderous allegations being published on the pages of the Burnaby NOW.
In other forums, parents have been subjected to dangerous, racist and threatening language including death threats.
Burnaby Parents' Voice seeks to restore parental authority in the education of their own children and believes that parents know what is best for their children, not special interest groups and bureaucrats.
