Pipeline not city’s only problem

Dear Editor:

It seems that our venerable mayor’s only ambition for the forthcoming year is to stop the twinning of the Kinder Morgan pipeline and its transit through Burnaby. Since it is more than likely that it is a fait accompli, I wonder whether he will forego the tax base it will provide our great community.

The taxes the pipeline will bring to us might be used to reduce homeowner taxes, unlikely, and/or go toward improving the lot of the poor, the Burnaby Hospital and other such worthy endeavours.

While he does not like pipelines, none of us do but progress is progress, our mayor does not seem to mind the “uglification “ of Burnaby allowing the sprouting of endless, tasteless, high-rise apartment blocks – glass cages as I prefer to call them.
