Re: Drive to recall Lee is scuttled
Citizens for Recall spokesperson, Jennifer Heighton, said they were unable to get enough signatures to recall MLA Richard Lee.
The reasons she gave were very self-serving from her/their perspective.
Might I suggest some reasons they didn’t get enough signatures that she didn’t mention: 1. their campaign was without merit; 2. people didn’t want to pay for three elections in a two-year period; 3. people thought the campaign had been hijacked by the NDP because they were upset that one riding was Liberal; and lastly, the fact Ms. Heighton, as spokesperson, didn’t even live in Burnaby, let alone Mr. Lee’s riding.
Recall is a very serious matter, and it appears the Citizens for Recall simply thought they could mislead or manipulate the registered voters. Democracy prevailed.
