Sea of towers doesn't suit Lougheed neighbourhood

Dear Editor

In February 2014, I attended the initial public open house on the proposed redevelopment of the Lougheed Mall. The display panels were coy about the scale of this project. I estimated that  there might be 19 highrise towers (three business and 16 residential) upon completion.

On June 18, 2015, a second open house took place that incorporated public feedback from the prior meeting.  Apparently the public wanted more highrise towers.  The new conceptual site plan shows 25 towers with many zooming up 50 to 60 storeys!

How does this megalopolis “integrate” with the surrounding neighbourhoods?  It doesn’t.

How is this urban design “exceptional”?  It’s more of the same old, same old “Metrotownification.”

Is this enclave “livable” with a more extreme climate?  Get a fan.
