Dear Editor:
Re: Sky is not the limit, Burnaby NOW, June 22.
The article regarding building heights by Janaya Fuller-Evans and expressing Carly Franklin's thoughts on her displeasure with the development plans for Metrotown about to be building four or five new high rises, some 57 storeys, has left me shuddering!
Good for you, Carly, for bringing this to the fore. The proposed heights of the towers are scary enough, but what about the traffic congestion that will result from these additions to an already busy area? To find a parking spot to go shopping in Metrotown is already difficult.
Our family settled on the South Slope in 1950, watched the growth of Burnaby with such pride, but this is going over-board. Seldom do I write a letter to the editor and seldom do I take issue with decisions by our city fathers, but to me, this is the straw that broke the camel's back, and worthy of a senior's opinion of the proposed development for Burnaby.
Let's be content improving on what we have without introducing thousands more cars resulting in horrible traffic problems. Please, Burnaby people, support Carly!
Betty Forbes, Burnaby
