The Burnaby RCMP arrested one of the protesters on Burnaby Mountain today around 2 p.m. Staff Sgt. Major John Buis said the man was arrested for obstruction, meaning he was interfereing with police doing their job. RCMP are working on releasing the guy soon, but there is a handful of protesters outside the Burnaby RCMP office right now.

The RCMP have been pretty clear they are monitoring the Burnaby Mountain situation as an impartial party. I don't think they will arrest anyone unless they break the law. That will obviously change if Kinder Morgan is sucessful in securing an injunction from the B.C. Supreme Court. (That case is still in session but should wrap up today.)

This would be the second arrest if you count the young guy who chained himself to the underside of one of the Kinder Morgan work vehicles.

Stay tuned for more updates!
