Why do you vote?

We asked, you answered. Here are just some of the reasons you gave us:

"I feel that voting is an essential responsibility in our society and allows every person to let their voice and opinion be heard.  I cannot imagine NOT taking advantage of this amazing opportunity to contribute to our democratic way of life."

"Some people say that politics have nothing to do with their lives - but they are wrong. Politics has everything to do with our daily lives - starting from the clean water we drink, the tax that we pay when we buy our groceries to the quality of our public education. By voting, we are exercising our right to choose the right representatives who will serve our best interests."

"I believe my right to vote is also my responsibility as well as my privilege. Canada is a great country because people from so many different backgrounds can and do participate."

"I vote because it is our responsibility to do so. So many people take for granted the freedoms we enjoy.  With democracy comes great responsibility.  I want to respect and honour those who fought for this right."

"I vote for my daughter's future and I vote 'cause I love the city of Burnaby."

"People fight and die for the privilege of having a say in selecting the governing body...why would I dishonour them by not voting?"

"I haven't voted yet as I just turned 19, but I will vote hoping that my say will matter one day."

"To provide voice to the decisions that shape my community."

"People are dying all over the world for the freedom to vote. It is a pillar of our democracy."

"It's my chance to be heard!!"

"Because I am an optimist...I keep hoping someone honest will get in."

"Because I can! "

So tell us Burnaby, what's your reason not to vote?
