Will teacher take a pay cut to help cover costs?

Dear Editor: I got a real chuckle from reading Patrick Parkes' opinion piece (Liberals' fight all about ideology, In My Opinion, Burnaby NOW, Feb. 7). First off, Patrick, I have to agree with you on most of what you have said.

Dear Editor:

I got a real chuckle from reading Patrick Parkes' opinion piece (Liberals' fight all about ideology, In My Opinion, Burnaby NOW, Feb. 7). First off, Patrick, I have to agree with you on most of what you have said. I am a taxpayer in a democracy, and it is my duty and obligation to pay taxes. I do not mind in the least paying taxes to support public education, health care, the military, etc.

However, Patrick, what really made me laugh out loud was your description of the cost of this court ruling to taxpayers as only a "bit" more in taxes.

What the heck is your definition of a "bit"? I hope you don't teach mathematics or English, Patrick.

Hey, I have an idea. As this court ruling upholding the teachers' contract will decrease class sizes and add more teaching assistants, it will no doubt decrease the teachers' workload. Therefore, to help pay for this, perhaps the teacher could take a "bit" of a pay cut.
