In 2019, there were almost 600,000 boardings on the 134 bus.

That seems like a lot of people for an “empty bus.” The writer remarks that “it is our money they are wasting on routes that are unnecessary and redundant.” Ironically, this is coming from the same person who described something as “redundant” right after they called it “unnecessary!”

It is frankly disgusting to see this kind of language used to delegitimize bus riders. Are the 2,000 people that ride the 134 every weekday not taxpayers as well? In addition to taxes, they also pay fares to ride the bus.

Buses are a service provided for every single person in this city. It’s fine if you don’t personally ride buses, but you benefit from the people that choose to do so. Each of the supposedly “empty” buses you see go by are keeping cars off your streets and away from your parking spots.
