Letter: Burnaby isn't loud enough cheering our health-care workers

Cheer for health care workers
Front-line health-care workers at Burnaby Hospital respond to a salute from police, firefighters and paramedics Wednesday in a screen grab from a video posted on social media. Residents in Coquitlam are also being asked to participate in a nightly cheer during the 7 p.m. shift change at hospitals and health care facilities.

Over the past couple of weeks, almost all of the Lower Mainland has taken part in cheering for our health-care heroes at 7 p.m. - banging pots and pans, blowing on whistles, and bringing out their vuvuzela's from the 2010 Olympics.

Burnaby has taken part, too, but seems to be the quietest of the bunch, and I know that we, as a city, can do much better and be much louder.

So, North Burnaby, West Burnaby, East Burnaby, South Burnaby and beyond, let's be as loud as we can be starting every night at 7 p.m. and show our health-care workers just how much we appreciate them.
