Letter: Burnaby RCMP with rifles promotes violence more than it stops it

Editor: Re: Cops with semi-automatic rifles ‘new reality’ at Burnaby events: RCMP , NOW , July 31 I recently read in the Burnaby NOW that RCMP are now caring semi-automatic rifles to community events. I wish there was a way to stop this.

I recently read in the Burnaby NOW that RCMP are now caring semi-automatic rifles to community events.

I wish there was a way to stop this. Police with these rifles make me not only feel more unsafe, but I believe do more to promote violence than to stop it.

Is there anything (Burnaby city council) can do to end this practice?
