Letter: Don't dismiss the importance of 24 Sussex Drive

24 Sussex Drive is the official residence of our country's prime minister.

It is an officially designated federal heritage building, built in 1866 by early Parliament member Joseph Currier using an immense quantity of limestone.

I can only assume that someone who so casually calls for the demolition of one of Canada's most important structures would have zero respect for not only our built heritage in general, but also for all of the checks and balances put in place to protect it.

I'm sure that they would also call for the demolition of the White House with equal casual dismissiveness. Such disregard for our country's heritage resources, particularly one of such size, age and importance, is not welcome here.
