I would like to personally thank the Burnaby RCMP officer who assisted my distraught cousin at Metrotown on May 10.

She was visiting me from England, had been to Kitsilano Beach and the Vancouver Museum, but on the way back had mislaid my address and telephone number and couldn't remember at which SkyTrain station she was supposed to get off.

So, instead of Edmonds, she got off at Metrotown.

Well, being a country gal from a small village now finding herself in a strange big city, it was somewhat daunting for her and she got completely disoriented. Thinking that she was at the right station, she walked in all directions for over an hour trying to figure out how to get back to me. Thankfully, she finally got back to Metrotown, where this concerned police officer kept asking if she was OK, finally called her a taxi, and waited with her until the taxi arrived.

By then she'd found my telephone number and had called me so I was able to tell the taxi driver where to drop her off. It was my fault, really, in that I should have given her step-by-step instructions as to how to get to Kits and back, but she seemed quite capable. So, again, a big thank you to the police officer who supported her.

A P Hoddy, Burnaby
