Letter: This Burnaby property was stripped of its trees - wildlife be damned

Editor: Just a lovely picture, isn't it? Five acres above Deer Lake (on Haszard Street) gutted in two days, stripped of every tree on the site - even century-old cedars - wildlife be damned, to make way for a six-house subdivision.

Just a lovely picture, isn't it?

Five acres above Deer Lake (on Haszard Street) gutted in two days, stripped of every tree on the site - even century-old cedars - wildlife be damned, to make way for a six-house subdivision.

No public consultation, no discussion, nothing. No consideration for the surrounding community. And what does the City of Burnaby planning department have to say?

Well, nothing.

It's only a subdivision, not a zoning change, so the owners are allowed to do whatever they want. It's time for changes, Burnaby. I'll be voting with my feet.
