Trans Mountain stages exercise, NOW, Sept. 21

The article on page 3 of the Sept. 21 issue perpetuates a common erroneous statement that there are five tankers a month filling up with crude oil at the Kinder Morgan Westridge terminal. In 2016, there were only 15 tankers in the whole year; in 2017 there were only 16, thus the rate in the last two years has been a little over one per month. In the first half of 2018, the rate was about two per month.

Was this figure of five per month supplied by Trans Mountain? If so, the company deserves a public scathing.

David Huntley, Burnaby

Editor’s note: The number was supplied by Trans Mountain.
