Editor: My husband and I have been living in Burnaby for over 10 years, and our shopping is always at Safeway because it's convenient and the people are usually nice. Except for these COVID-19 times.

If you're like all my arts- and entertainment-loving friends these days, you've been sitting in your home enjoying some aspects of self-isolation (the chance to read a book, for instance) but craving your fix of theatre or music.

People seem to think that just because they are outside, they are significantly safer from COVID-19. That’s led to some pretty awful behaviour, judging from the photos posted of people at local beaches and on nature trails.

One thing I’ve noticed people arguing about on social media (yes, I know, it’s a long list) is if “healthy” people should be wearing face masks. Now the word “healthy” is unclear because you can have COVID-19 and not show any symptoms.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues in B.C., those on the frontlines of healthcare are asking for the government to implement more drastic social distancing measures - including a group of five nurses from Burnaby Hospital.

The first order of business at the last sitting of the legislature for the foreseeable future was to change a rule. MLAS have to sit in their assigned seats. No exceptions. But they’re too close together for the two-metre rule to apply.

Editor: In spite of the coronavirus emergency, restaurants in Burnaby are allowed to offer take-out service (but not sit-down service). The provincial beer and liquor stores remain open.
