Port Coquitlam nurse Christina Gower writes that medical professionals on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis are overwhelmed by information and concerned for their safety, too

Editor: The COVID-19 pandemic is causing a great deal of concern. At times such as this, the best is brought out in some people as my husband and I are experiencing.

We all are facing unprecedented challenges during this global healthcare crisis.

It has often been said that everything is political, but politics in its purest form does not exist right now - at least not in B.C.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the single-greatest threat to the health and well-being of you and those you love. And it is at times of crisis that each of us must summon the courage to say and do what is needed.

There’s a movement afoot of Burnaby home owners who want some tax relief during the COVID-19 crisis. The City of Vancouver has allowed owners to defer property taxes by 60 days as many people are losing revenue due to their work hours being cut back.

Normally when I pass a park on a warm spring day and spot a group of giggling kids playing together on the playground, it warms my heart. But right now, it just pisses me off.

The term “covidiot” hit the modern lexicon over the weekend in Canada and the U.S. It’s an apt hashtag and not-at-all harsh in relation to the behaviour we’re seeing from people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Editor: We are family physicians on the frontlines in the battle against COVID-19. This crisis is unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetime. We are working flat out to be there for our patients and their families.

Editor: I went to Shoppers Drug Mart and was relieved to see a security guard and a line of people at the door, limiting the store to 50 persons.
