My recent obsession with the nightmares Burnaby cyclists face has come with an accusation from drivers that I am, in fact, a “biased cyclist.” People who have seen my physical condition will laugh at that.

It’s been more than three weeks since Burnaby resident Charles Masala was killed by a driver while cycling on Gaglardi Way. A memorial to him has been growing steadily since then at the site where he was killed. I know because I pass by it every day.

If you haven’t heard of Burnaby Community Services, it’s likely because you have a comfortable life.

We are naturally proud of the natural beauty where we live. There are many astoundingly stunning places in Canada, each with its own character, but few match Vancouver for its ocean/mountain/climate combo.

Editor: On July 11, I had to call 911 for my mother, who I found unconscious in her home. The firefighters arrived in less two minutes and an ambulance emergency response team shortly after that.

This week marks the 50th anniversary of American astronaut Neil Armstrong becoming the first person to ever set foot on the moon. It was “one small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind” and the world watched in awe.

A Burnaby cyclist contacted me after reading some of my blogs lately about cycling in Burnaby. Since I am not an actual cyclist, I’ve been learning as I go about what it’s like on Burnaby roads.

Burnaby city council recently passed a motion to spend millions of dollars on new sidewalks – a good thing to be sure.
