Dear Editor It was truly “shocking” to see the letter to the editor of the Burnaby NOW from MLA Kathy Corrigan, Burnaby-Deer Lake, that was published in the Sept. 23 edition. Several words come to mind including “sour grapes” and “sad.

What’s with the kids today? Plenty, but it seems voting is not something worth putting down Instagram and Snapchat for. Less than 39 per cent voted in 2011 and political scientists warn us that millennials could be democracy’s lost generation.

Dear Editor The Conservatives have cheated in elections, muzzled scientists, and sabotaged international talks on climate change. Their policies on justice are all about punishment and have absolutely nothing to do with public safety.

With less than two weeks to go before voters head to the polls, it's worth asking whether the perceived front runner at the beginning of this long election campaign can find a way to be competitive again.

Dear editor, I can appreciate the fact you do not want to take sides in your opinion piece on Oct.

Labour negotiations can be tricky in most situations, but in Burnaby they can be especially tricky. Take the current labour dispute between the City of Burnaby and the city’s firefighters.

Dear Editor Once again, Ziggy Eckardt (Trending comments, Sept. 25) feels the need to raise his voice and sing the praises of the Harper government. Hosanna! Canada is the land of milk and honey, and it’s all because of the Harper government.

Dear Editor Voters who attended a Burnaby North-Seymour all-candidates meeting on Monday evening at SFU enjoyed a lively debate among Carol Baird Ellan, Lynne Quarmby, and Terry Beech.

There we all are, staring raptly into the heavens, transfixed by the supermoon-lunar eclipse, and voraciously reading the latest news about the discovery of water on Mars.
