Home sales in B.C. proved stronger than expected in June, according to the B.C. Real Estate Association — and Burnaby was part of that provincial trend.
“June home sales continued to outperform expectations, following a very strong rebound in May,” said BCREA chief economist Brendon Ogmundson in a July 13 news release. “However, rising interest rates will likely dampen home sales activity in coming months.”
The BCREA notes that 8,740 residential unit sales were recorded in MLS systems across the province in June, an increase of 21.9 per cent from June 2022.
In Burnaby, 390 residential properties were sold in June, according to MLS stats from Zealty.ca. That was up from 305 in June 2022, a 27.9 per cent increase.
The average MLS residential price in BC was $991,648, up 4.7 per cent compared to June 2022.
In Burnaby, the median sold price in June was $810,000, up from $760,100 in June 2022 — a 6.6 per cent increase.
