Damiano Pecile and Deylen Vellios will represent Canada at the 2019 FIFA under-17 World Cup in Brazil, beginning Saturday.

Pecile, a midfielder, and Vellios, a defender, both first pulled on the Canadian jersey as a 14 year old during the national youth program tryouts in 2016. They were part of the u17 CONCACAF championships earlier this year. They were also both part of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency program.

Canada opens the tournament with a game Saturday against powerhouse Brazil. The game will be broadcast live on TSN2 starting at 12:45 p.m. PT.

They are two of six players from the Whitecaps FC Academy on this Canadian team.
